James has extensive experience at counseling clients at meeting their intellectual property goals in a wide field of industries. Prior to practicing law, he worked as a systems engineer for Motorola, where he deployed software and hardware solutions for wireless wide area network operators, such as Verizon Wireless and China Telecom. He leverages his past engineering experience in a wireless networks lab to draft applications in the telecommunications and radio frequency arts.

James has experience drafting numerous patent applications and navigating the examination process before the Patent Office. He has prepared opinions on intellectual property matters, such as freedom-to-operate, invalidity, and infringement. He has also assisted with a patent infringement case in developing invalidity contentions.

Outside of work, James enjoys contributing to open source software projects and advancing his programming skills. He’s often tinkering with his Linux server and writing code for his hobby software projects.
