Profile

John Carey is a leading town planning lawyer. Previously a town planner, John's combination of skills enables him to provide commercially focused outcome oriented advice.

John's practice embraces advising on a range of developments, from inner urban residential apartments, to commercial and industrial developments, retirement villages and through to greenfield and brownfield redevelopment sites. John has extensive experience as a solicitor advocate.

He has advised on planning issues in relation to the Caulfield Village and Flemington Hill redevelopments, the Melbourne Wholesale Market relocation, the former Amcor site in Alphington, and the application of planning controls both within and outside the Port of Melbourne.

He regularly advises organisations such as Victoria Racing Club, Melbourne Racing Club, Port of Melbourne, Places Victoria, and Australia Pacific Airports (Melbourne) Pty Ltd.

John is a current member, and former long term Board Member, of the Victorian Planning and Environmental Law Association, and is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria.
