Profile

Kalyani is an associate in Carey Olsen's dispute resolution and litigation team in the Cayman Islands. She advises on all aspects of commercial and financial services litigation, as well as on cross-border insolvency and contentious regulatory disputes.  

Kalyani's recent experience includes acting for the liquidators of Abraaj Holdings in complex high-value litigation matters and acting for dissenting shareholders in a number of 'fair value' appraisal petitions issued under Section 238 of the Cayman Islands Companies Act.

Professional Career

Significant Accomplishments

Kalyani obtained an LLB with First Class Honours and a BSc majoring in Genetics from the University of Otago, Dunedin. She is an admitted barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand and is a practicing Cayman Islands attorney. 

Prior to Joining Carey Olsen in 2023, Kalyani was at two leading New Zealand law firms and practiced as a junior barrister, working on large-scale complex commercial litigation in a broad range of areas including class actions, insolvency, energy and banking disputes, regulatory disputes, and financial crime.
