Lachlan Campbell-Verduyn is Counsel in the firm's Litigation department, where she represents clients in intellectual property matters, complex commercial disputes, and investigations. She has extensive experience representing biotech and pharmaceutical companies in patent litigations on subject matters ranging from small molecules to biologics. She has litigated cases brought under the Hatch-Waxman Act and under the Biologics Price Competition and Innovation Act (BPCIA).

From 2019 to 2020, Ms. Campbell-Verduyn served as a law clerk to the Hon. Sharon L. Gleason of the United States District Court for the District of Alaska. Ms. Campbell-Verduyn has a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, in the Netherlands, where she completed her doctoral research in the group of Nobel Prize winner, Ben Feringa. She also has an undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Mount Allison University, in Canada.

Intellectual Property
Represented a major pharmaceutical company in ANDA litigations involving challenges by multiple generic manufacturers to patents protecting a breakthrough cancer treatment.

Represented a major pharmaceutical company in an ANDA litigation involving challenges to eight patents protecting a combination drug treatment for HIV/AIDS.

Represented a major pharmaceutical company in a patent litigation concerning infringement of a manufacturing patent for a key component of an HIV drug.

Represented a major pharmaceutical company in one of the first cases under the legislation for biosimilars (BPCIA) and the first involving an antibody product.

Represented a major pharmaceutical company in a patent dispute that resulted in the invalidation of an antibody glycosylation patent in the United Kingdom.

Counseled a diagnostic systems manufacturer on its strategy for inter partes review proceedings.

Counseled a pharmaceutical company in management of its worldwide portfolio of patents and patent applications protecting an HIV/AIDS drug.

Represented an educational institution in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings before U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.

Complex Commercial Litigation and Investigations
Represented a pharmaceutical company in a contractual dispute about its efforts to commercialize a licensed product.

Conducted confidential investigations on behalf of a professional sports league.

Represented an advertising agency in connection with a DOJ antitrust investigation into alleged bid rigging.

Pro Bono
Represented an individual client with their application to the Executive Clemency Bureau of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision under the auspices of the New York State’s Pro Bono Clemency Program.

Represented an individual client in his administrative appeal of the New York Department of State’s proposed denial of his security guard license.

Represented an individual client in his appeal of his weapon and drug possession convictions in New York state court.

Co-authored an amicus brief to the United States Supreme Court on behalf of Muslim Bar Associations in opposition to the federal government’s travel ban.
