Lesley DeRamus helps financial institutions navigate and manage compliance with federal and state consumer protection regulations applicable to their business. Lesley has 30 years of experience working on regulatory issues with financial services clients such as federal and state banks, finance companies, mortgage servicers, title companies and real estate brokers. She frequently helps clients with regulatory questions affecting their products or services. Lesley regularly works on matters involving the provision of open- and closed-end credit products and related disclosures, including home mortgage loans, HELOCs, credit cards, personal lines, and automobile loans. She also helps banks with federal and state law questions regarding deposit accounts and ancillary product sales, such as bank insurance sales issues. She regularly assists clients with privacy issues affecting their products and services, particularly those involving the analysis of privacy and data protection issues in third-party contracts. Additionally, she provides assistance with policies and procedures, consumer notices, and state law requirements related to the privacy and security of consumer information.

Lesley advises clients on the application of financial institution regulatory requirements in connection with the development or update of policies and procedures, product development and implementation, regulatory examinations, complaint responses, advertising, and error correction. In connection with the implementation of new products and services, she regularly counsels clients on regulatory requirements involved in vendor contract review, systems and operations, regulatory disclosures and other requirements, advertising review, policies and procedures and any other issues related to such implementation. She addresses questions related to a variety of products and services, such as all types of loan products, including consumer mortgage loans and other secured and unsecured loans, as well as issues related to electronic banking, calling and text messaging regarding accounts, credit and debit cards, and many others.

Lesley’s  practice includes advising clients in connection with a variety of laws and regulations, such as the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Fair Lending and Servicing, Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Unfair, Deceptive or Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP), Electronic Funds Transfer Act (EFTA), Truth in Savings Act (TISA), Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA), Military Lending Act (MLA), Gramm Leach Bliley Act (GLBA), Regulation P (Privacy), and Regulation M (Consumer Leasing), as well as state consumer protection laws. In addition, she has significant experience with regulatory complaints, consumer disputes, and defense of enforcement actions.
