Profile

Pooya E. Sohi represents corporate clients, financial institutions, and mid-sized businesses in both state and federal courts. He has significant experience in a variety of complex litigation matters including trade secret misappropriation, corporate raiding, unfair competition, unfair business practices, and breach of contract. In addition, his practice includes defense of class actions, products liability defense, receivership actions, construction, and partnership disputes. Mr. Sohi also specializes in real estate litigation, having represented landlords and tenants in numerous commercial real estate and lease disputes.

Mr. Sohi volunteers for the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Domestic Violence Project, helping victims of domestic violence obtain restraining orders against their abusers and obtain financial assistance for relocation purposes. Mr. Sohi also volunteers with the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services where he helps prospective adoptive parents complete adoption papers and represents them at the adoption hearings.

Significant Accomplishments

  • Represented commercial snack food manufacturer and obtained a multi-million dollar verdict following a four-week jury trial in a partnership dispute arising from a breach of an oral agreement.
  • Represented private equity firm in a commercial guaranty case and obtained a multi-million dollar judgment by stipulation following the first day of jury trial.
  • Represented real estate investor/developer in breach of contract case and obtained a multi-million dollar judgment and an award of attorneys’ fees following bench trial.
  • Served as lead counsel for defendants in a real estate dispute involving claims of broker/seller liability which resulted in a complete defense victory and an award of attorneys’ fees in the full amount requested.
  • Defended nationwide mortgage lender in breach of contract action alleging damages in excess of $40 million and involving secondary market securitizations of subprime mortgage loans.
  • Represented lender in state court receivership action involving multiple properties and defaults on loans in excess of $30 million.
  • Defended major pool filter manufacturer against product defect and failure to warn claims.
  • Represented corporate client in the prosecution of a trade secret and unfair competition case and obtained a preliminary injunction that required the immediate turnover of misappropriated data, and prohibited defendants from doing business with customers through the use of client’s confidential information.
  • Represented court-appointed receiver charged with the completion, marketing, and sale of multiple residential communities.
