Profile

Will Planert is a Partner in the firm’s International Trade Practice. He concentrates on representing multilateral and foreign-based corporations in a wide variety of international trade disputes, including anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigations, Section 201 (safeguards) cases, anticircumvention investigations, and customs compliance matters. Mr. Planert appears regularly before the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. International Trade Commission, and the U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection. He is also experienced in complex litigation before the U.S. Court of International Trade and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and before NAFTA binational dispute settlement panels. Mr. Planert counsels domestic and foreign clients on customs compliance issues, NAFTA origin issues, country of origin marking requirements, and quotas.

Representative Experience

- Represents White Birch Paper in the anti-dumping duty investigation of Uncoated Groundwood Paper from Canada at the U.S. Department of Commerce.
- Represents importer in anti-dumping and countervailing duty administrative reviews of Magnesia Carbon Bricks from China.
- Represented Canfor Corporation, one of the largest lumber producers in the world, in the 2017 anti-dumping investigation of Softwood Lumber from Canada conducted by the U.S. Department of Commerce.
- Represented foreign steel producers in the U.S. International Trade Commission anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigations of Standard Pipe from the United Arab Emirates, Corrosion-Resistant Steel Products from Korea, Italy, and Taiwan, Oil Country Tubular Goods from Korea and Turkey.
