Profile

Richard is a patent attorney with experience developing and executing strategies in domestic and foreign patent preparation and prosecution. As a research scientist, he investigated transitions states of small molecules using quantum-chemistry methodologies, and designed and developed algorithms and molecular dynamics software to simulate small molecule chemical reactions. He has drafted patents in a wide-range of technical and scientific fields including artificial intelligence; machine learning; networks; quantum computing; and telecommunications software. His background also includes working with applied mathematics-based technologies, seismic imaging, image processing, natural language processing, optical technologies, semiconductor-based technologies, and interdisciplinary fields that combine physics, chemistry, and materials science.

His experience as a patent attorney includes managing and advising clients on patent portfolio development and strategic filing including identifying white spaces in patent portfolios, developing patent strategies for projects in support of a client’s business objectives, and analyzing and assessing the significance and merits of individual patents in patent portfolios.
