In February 2015, Sir Michael L. Barnett returned to Graham Thompson as of counsel.  Sir Michael was previously the Chief Justice of The Bahamas from August 2009 to January 2015.

Sir Michael was a Senior Partner in the Firm for 25 years, but left when he was appointed to the Senate in 2008 and became a member of the Cabinet of The Bahamas as Attorney General.  The following year, he was appointed Chief Justice.

Sir Michael was the founding Partner of Graham Thompson’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department in 1983, and he will now focus on an advisory, arbitration and Privy Council appellate practice with a particular interest in banking, insurance, insolvency and trusts.

Sir Michael, a mentor to many up and coming lawyers during his many years with the Firm, will also be involved in training and mentoring young attorneys at the Firm.

Robert Adams, Chairman of Graham Thompson's Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group states, “We are immensely proud to have Sir Michael re-join our practice. He embodies the very essence of what we value so highly at Graham Thompson, and what we continue to foster among the members of our team - excellence at the Bar in all respects and a true dedication to public service.  Sir Michael is a powerful addition to our practice and will continue to serve as a mentor to us. He will also be available to accept appointments to serve as a mediator or an arbitrator to assist in the resolution of disputes.” Adams continues, “The response of private and institutional clients to Sir Michael’s return has been tremendous, and speaks not only to his acumen but also to the wealth of knowledge that he brought in the past and can continue to bring to both litigation and transactional-related issues.”
