Our Firm’s Initiatives — WLG impact

Our firm will be participating in WLG impact, World Law Group's first network-wide Corporate Social Responsibility initiative.
The Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) committee of Shearn Delamore & Co. has been involved in various initiatives that embrace diversity within the firm and staying true to the ideals of inclusivity.
Vis-à-vis environment, we are committed to creating and maintaining eco-friendly practices within the firm. As businesses move towards digital transformation, we have put in place policies to effectively manage paper usage, waste minimisation through awareness and education programmes as well as inculcating energy saving habits in the daily business operations.
In line with this aspiration, we have set about implementing environmental-friendly measures progressively. These measures include the implementation of various e-format submissions by members of the firm, including their leave days and claims applications.
On the business front, we have ceased issuance of statements of accounts, receipts and reminders for outstanding payments in the form of hard paper copies. On the IT front, we have subscribed to various platforms that would help facilitate storage of documents electronically, conversion of editable documents to PDF format and compilation of bundles of documents for e-filing in courts (all referred to as “Measures”).
Whilst in the larger scheme of things, the environment-friendly practices can extend to include participation by members of the firm beyond the four walls of our offices, we have not been able to organise any activities where physical presence of members of the firm is required owing to the pandemic and the fact that Malaysia has been on various forms of lockdowns since March 2020 with specific standard operating procedures which we need to comply with. For the time being, it is hoped that the Measures that would affect over 400 members of the firm would bring about positive impact in the long run.
The implementation of the Measures has been a gradual one, and to mark the WLG impact event, the CSR committee has decided to officially launch these Measures during that same week.
