Consortium Legal appoints 3 new partners in Guatemala office

July 2nd, 2021 As part of the firm’s growth strategy and to continue providing the highest standard of quality legal advice to its clients, Consortium Legal announces the appointment of Elías Arriaza Sáenz as equity partner; the reincorporation of Mario Estuardo Archila Maldonado as equity partner and the hiring of Salvador del Valle Pezzarossi as practice partner, in the Guatemala office. With these incorporations, the number of local partners increases to 13 and 54 partners in the Central American region.

Elías joined the Firm in 2006 as an associate, in 2015 he was appointed as practice partner and leader of the Litigation department and this time he is appointed as equity partner of the Guatemala office. During his 15-year career at Consortium Legal, Elías has stood out for his high knowledge and accumulated experience in the judicial area, but mainly stands out for his high value of service with his clients. “This promotion is a fair recognition to the professionalism that Elías has demonstrated, his clear adherence to the values and culture of the firm, as well as the clear vision regarding the commitment with clients and the search for a true rule of law”, commented Alfredo Rodríguez Mahuad, founding partner of Consortium Guatemala.

Mario was part of Consortium as an associate from 1998-2007, and now after almost 15 years of independent career, he rejoins the Firm as an equity partner. During his professional career, he has achieved success and extensive experience in the tax area, both in planning and defense. He holds a master’s degree in International Business Law and International Trade Law from the Erasmus University, Rotterdam, The Netherlands and completed a Doctorate in Economic Analysis of Law from the Francisco Marroquin University, Guatemala. He is currently Vice President of the Guatemalan Institute of Tax Law; and member of the International Fiscal Association – Guatemala Chapter, and of the Guatemalan Tax Association.

Salvador joins the Firm as a practice partner. He has more than 15 years of experience as an attorney, of which for 10 years he has participated in the development, construction and operation of renewable energy projects in the Central American region; among them: development of approximately 250 MW of hydroelectric generation in Guatemala, consolidating the largest private hydroelectric project in Central America (301 MW in total); acquisition of close to 400 MW in wind and solar projects in Central America; and operation of 800 MW of renewable energy throughout the region.
