Minter Ellison launches essential guide for insurance industry

March, 2012 - Sydney, New South Wales

Minter Ellison has launched the seventh edition of its marketing leading publication Insurance Contracts Act Handbook, widely regarded by the insurance industry as an authoritative overview of Australia's Insurance Contracts Act 1984 and associated legislation because of its detailed research and case law analysis.

Publishing Editor, partner Pamela Madafiglio, who heads Minter Ellison insurance practice in Sydney, said the publication dates back to 1992, when it was conceived as a simple aid for the firm's clients.

'Twenty years is a long time. What started off as guide to help our insurance clients navigate the complexities of the legislation has developed into an essential reference tool widely used across the industry,' Ms Madafiglio said. 'This twentieth birthday edition is a milestone for the Minter Ellison insurance team and the publication.'

Ms Madafiglio acknowledged the work done by lawyers throughout the Minter Ellison Legal Group on the latest text. 'The book draws on the knowledge of lawyers who know the insurance industry as well as we know ourselves. It is this knowledge that has been pivotal to Minter Ellison winning the insurance industry's Law Firm of the Year award in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011, and it is this knowledge that underpins the publication.'

The seventh edition of Insurance Contracts Act Handbook was launched by The Hon. Justice Anthony Meagher, Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court of NSW, at Minter Ellison's offices in Sydney.
