Financial Times Recognises Ellex as one of the 50 most innovative law firms in Europe

October, 2018 - Vilnius, Lithuania

On October 4, the Financial Times announced the highly-anticipated results of its annual survey, the FT Innovative Lawyers Report, recognising Ellex as one of the 50 most innovative law firms in Europe. The Ellex circle of law firms stands out in the rankings as the only Baltic-based law firm selected in Northern Europe alongside well-known internationals such as Allen & Overy, Linklaters, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, White & Case and others. It is the second year in a row of Ellex being included in the list of top 50 innovative law firms in Europe.

In addition to being recognised among other innovative legal advisors, the firm was also singled out for development of the first and innovative legal position on the Administrative Reform Act in the Supreme Court of Estonia. The constitutionality of the act was challenged by several local municipalities in the Supreme Court. This is a landmark case with huge impact in terms of the state reform, exploring the legal balance between the local governmental rights and central government rights.

The FT Innovative Lawyers Report is widely recognised as one of the top legal rankings in the market, with fierce competition among its accompanying award categories. Over the past decade, it has researched and assessed legal innovation in more than 50 different countries, looking at over 500 unique law firms and over 500 corporate in-house legal departments.
