Van Doorne N.V.'s Overview

We are an independent Dutch firm of lawyers, civil law notaries and tax specialists who focus on both governmental and market-sector clients, including businesses, nonprofits and governmental organisations. The firm was founded by Pieter van Doorne in 1930.

Van Doorne is now one of the ten largest Dutch law firms. In addition to a top-level practice in the Netherlands, we have an extensive international practice with clients mainly in the US, the UK and Germany.

You and Us

Solving your problems, guiding you in your challenges, so you can continue doing business without concern - that is our goal.

Our lawyers, civil-law notaries and tax lawyers are recognized experts in their fields and the industries in which they operate. With our in depth legal knowledge and our broad experience, we can help you.

We understand the context of the matter at hand, we find the question behind your question, and we recognize and know how to deal with sensitivities. As a result, we quickly reach clear solutions and guide you to sustainable results.

Van Doorne is a people s firm, with personal attention to you as our client, as well as to each other. Our personal touch guarantees a no-nonsense approach and a down to earth, open way of working. Always together with you.

It is this combination of outstanding quality and personal commitment that makes us different. For 85 years Van Doorne has been one of the Netherlands most reputable firms. Our clients are leading players in their respective markets and we take pride in representing most of them for many years.

Mission and vision

Our strength lies in making connections. We bring different specialists together. This is what makes our approach and advice so solid. The more connections we can make, the more intricate we can make our structure, providing us with a solid base for our advice.

OUR VISION
Our world is becoming increasingly complex. We see a world where there is no one truth. Where things are not black or white, right or wrong. Certainties do not necessarily exist. This is the world in which you operate and in which we play an active role.

OUR MISSION
We strive to be a firm that offers you guidance and direction in this complex world by providing advice, mediation, negotiations and if necessary, litigation on the issues that really matter. And we unite all these various elements to achieve that.

OUR CLIENTS
We advise leading Dutch and international companies, financial service providers, semi-public organisations and government agencies. We also act as State Advocate for the Dutch Ministry of Finance. We aim for lasting relationships with our clients and are proud to have been working with most of them for many years.

The charm of a large firm

Van Doorne is large enough to house all types of specialists, yet small enough to personally know all of our colleagues. We work with you and with one another on a personal level.

Others about Van Doorne

Five Reasons Why Investors Love Intellectual Property (And Other Intangible Assets)
Van Doorne N.V., April 2021

Several listed companies recently bought the music rights of world famous stars such as Bob Dylan and Taylor Swift. The payoff of investing in music mainly comes from streams revenues. But the benefits do not seem to be that bad: for instance, since Sony bought Michael Jackson's music portfolio in 2016, its stock price has quadrupled (1). Beyond the music industry, intangible assets and, particularly, intellectual property ("IP") rights are taking an increasingly dominant position when it comes to the value of companies. At this moment, no less than 85% of the value of the United States stock index (the S&P 500) is determined by intangible assets (2)...
